How to Stop Power Leaks

If you find yourself ruminating about an event from the past or things to come, you’re setting yourself up for a power leak. Power leaks pave the way for a lot of suffering.

One of the first signs that you are suffering from a power leak is if you are stuck being critical of others or blaming. Whenever you point the finger outwards, you’re turning your power over to them or an event. No one can make you feel a certain way anymore than an event from your past can still hurt you. Only you can hurt yourself by holding on to the past, a narrative, label or someone else’s words, including a truth that is not yours.

Another sign of you having a power leak is you thinking that you have to submit to the drives, desires and intentions of others.

A third sign is you being complacent, apathetic or angry.

Lastly, people who have a growing sense of lack – lack of well-being, security, power and courage are suffering from multiple power leaks.

Many people who suffer from power leaks think that they are a survivor. Being in survivor mode is you holding onto the past and dragging it forward into every aspect of your life.

Scientists will tell you that our brains are designed to keep us alive and survive, but as spiritual beings that is not how we are designed. We are designed to crave meaning and purpose. Without that, we will feel adrift, lost and end up free-falling through life.

The good news is, once you see what is happening and what you are doing to yourself, you can change the trajectory of your life.

The first step is to take personal responsibility for your thoughts, actions, feelings and words and therefore all these power leaks.

The second step is to decide whether or not you truly want to get well and experience transformational healing.

The third step is for you to go on an expedition to find all the evidence that shows who you really are and all the good things that have happened to you. In other words, focus on everything that went right and is going right in your life.

The last step is for you to heal your nervous system by incorporating mantras, practices and prayer that can redirect every single negative thought into a positive, peaceful thought and emotion.

The moment something or someone outside of you triggers a strong reaction or unkind emotion, this is your call to action to recognize what is happening – that you are stepping out of the seat of your soul and not holding onto what is yours – your beautiful energy and power.

Honor yourself by holding onto your energy and keeping it distributed to all parts of you.

Stand guard over your mind as you would your home in the presence of an intruder.

Do not underestimate the trials you will go through if you are living outside the will of God or are ruled by your emotions. The Devil likes to take aim at people who are ruled by their emotions and those who throw pity parties.

Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. Jeremiah 6:16
